Diffusible Sampler

The sampler is immersed in molten metal for 1 to 3 seconds and, after rapid chilling in water, the sampler can go directly to the analyzer. The sampler is then placed directly into the piercing unit of the LECO DH603 for diffusible hydrogen analysis.

Description

Hydrogen determinations are delivered quickly and precisely with the DH603 using residual, diffusible, and total hydrogen measurements. This robust instrument determines the amount of residual hydrogen (or diffusible and residual hydrogen when equipped with the optional integrated sample piercer) present in ferrous alloys. The DH603 is used to optimise industrial process in iron and steel production, hydrogen characterisation in row materials, welding materials.

A small footprint, user-friendly operating software, increased instrument safety and reliability are all part of the advanced DH603 design.

Operation

The DH603 determines the amount of residual (total) hydrogen—or diffusible and residual hydrogen with the optional piercer—in ferrous and ferrous alloys with a single instrument. Residual (total) hydrogen determination involves placing a pre-weighed sample into the furnace, allowing the hydrogen to be evolved by hot extraction into the flowing gas stream. Samples may be collected using a LECO vacuum pin tube or a similar technique. The hydrogen content is measured by a thermal conductivity detector, and final results are displayed in parts-per-million. Diffusible and residual hydrogen determination involves placing a sampler in the optional piercing unit, which punctures the sampler, allowing the diffused molecular hydrogen to be purged into the carrier gas stream. The hydrogen is measured by a thermal conductivity detector. The determinator features a userfriendly Windows -based operating system and advanced furnace control.
