Comprehensive Analysis of Drug Residues from a Confiscated Pipe: GC-High Resolution Mass Spectrometry with Chemical Ionization to Facilitate Unknown Identification

Confident characterization of complex forensic samples and novel synthetic drugs is facilitated using new high resolution (HR) mass spectrometry work flows. Forensic samples are subjected to Electron Impact (EI) HR and Chemical Ionisation (CI) HR mass spectral investigation with incredible mass accuracy and mass resolution. Generating HR-CI data preserves the molecular ions and enables confirmation of molecular weights so allowing analysts to proceed with structural elucidation of the obtained mass spectra. Excellent mass accuracies obtained using the Pegasus® GC-HRT in both the EI and methane HR-CI modes simplifies the determination of novel and licit psychotics that can elude detection by standard analytical methods.
